Fedora dotfiles (2026)
About
This repository contains my dotfiles which are primarily used on Fedora Linux installations on my desktop and T460s. The configuration is done through Emacs' wonderful org-mode major mode and is done literally by "tangling" source code blocks in the Org document to the respective configuration files. The current visual theme is Gruvbox Dark.
Installation
I use GNU Stow to place the dotfiles to the respective directories. Simply navigate to this git repository and run stow -t ~ x where x is the application directory in this repository containing the respective configuration. Alternatively the stow-all.sh script can take care of the process and do the stowing in a single sweep (provided there are no conflicts from existing files).
Application install lists are under ./dnf/dnf-*.txt which are used for an automated installation of software and uninstallation of pre-installed "bloatware" (particularly on the KDE spin).
Applications
This repository contains dotfiles for the following applications:
bat
A cat alternative with syntax highlighting.
beets
Commandline tool for managing my music library.
bookmarks.sh
An fzf-based script for web bookmark management. Resides in ~/.local/share/bin and reads a plaintext file in ~/bookmarks. Use Ctrl+y to yank a highlighted link to wl-copy.
Doom Emacs
My primary text editor environment, mainly for the fantastic combination of the Org-mode Emacs major mode, mnemonic keybindings and Evil-mode.
dunst
Notification daemon I use for Sway.
fastfetch
Simple neofetch alternative. My config is styled to be more minimal and less gaudy.
foot
No-nonsense, straightforward terminal emulator for Wayland desktops.
Helper Scripts
A collection of small helper scripts I frequently use.
mpv
Fantastic minimal media player with a focus on extensibility.
nеоvim
My fallback text editor for whenever I quickly need to edit something in a terminal session. My config comes with a plain lazy.nvim.
Sway
Wayland-based tiling window manager I mainly use on my T460s.
Waybar
Status bar for Sway.
yazi
Commandline file browser.
zsh
Extensible modern shell alternative to Bash. I abstain from using things like Oh-My-ZSH and similar utilities which only serve to slow the shell down. Only prerequisite are the zsh-autosuggestions and zsh-syntax-highlighting extensions.
Bitwig Presets
My collection of home-grown Bitwig Studio presets that I frequently use and want present on all Bitwig installations.
